zipmad I have so many favourite tracks on this album, but I just love the slightly 'haunting' melody of this song.

Did you know that we still don't know who wrote this song? Isn't it incredible that we can sing it still today - echoing the sentiments, but not knowing the person..!

Also - Donan's little spin-off tune in the middle of the song was a completely magical thing to listen to for the first time! It took us plenty of takes to try and get just the right fit of music for this song! Favorite track: What Wondrous Love Is This.

Come Thou fount of every blessing Tune my heart to sing Thy grace Streams of mercy never ceasing Call for songs of loudest praise Teach me some melodious sonnet Sung by flaming tongues above Praise the mount, I'm fixed upon it Mount of Thy redeeming love Here I raise my Ebenezer Here by Thy great help I've come And I hope by Thy good pleasure Safely to arrive at home Jesus sought me when a stranger Wandering from the fold of God He to rescue me from danger Interposed His precious blood (Instrumental) Come my Lord, no longer tarry Take my ransomed soul away Send Thine angels now to carry Me to realms of endless days Oh, to grace how great a debtor Daily I'm constrained to be Let Thy goodness like a fetter Bind my wandering heart to Thee Prone to wander, Lord I feel it Prone to leave the God I love Here's my heart, oh take and seal it Seal it for Thy courts above Here's my heart Oh take and seal it Seal it for Thy courts above

O Love that wilt not let me go, I rest my weary soul in thee; I give thee back the life I owe, That in thine ocean depths its flow May richer, fuller be. O light that followest all my way, I yield my flickering torch to thee; My heart restores its borrowed ray, That in thy sunshine’s blaze its day May brighter, fairer be. O Joy that seekest me through pain, I cannot close my heart to thee; I trace the rainbow through the rain, And feel the promise is not vain, That morn shall tearless be. O Cross that liftest up my head, I dare not ask to fly from thee; I lay in dust life’s glory dead, And from the ground there blossoms red Life that shall endless be.

What wondrous love is this, O my soul, O my soul? What wondrous love is this, O my soul? What wondrous love is this that caused the Lord of bliss to bear the dreadful curse for my soul, for my soul, to bear the dreadful curse for my soul? When I was sinking down, sinking down, sinking down, when I was sinking down, sinking down, when I was sinking down beneath God’s righteous frown, Christ laid aside his crown for my soul, for my soul, Christ laid aside his crown for my soul. To God and to the Lamb I will sing, I will sing, to God and to the Lamb I will sing, to God and to the Lamb who is the great I Am, while millions join the theme, I will sing, I will sing, while millions join the theme, I will sing. To God and to the Lamb who is the great I Am, while millions join the theme, I will sing, I will sing, while millions join the theme BREAK I will sing, I will sing

Master, the tempest is raging! The billows are tossing high! The sky is o’ershadowed with blackness. No shelter or help is nigh. Carest thou not that we perish? How canst thou lie asleep When each moment so madly is threat’ning A grave in the angry deep? Refrain: The winds and the waves shall obey thy will: Peace, be still. Whether the wrath of the storm-tossed sea Or demons or men or whatever it be, No waters can swallow the ship where lies The Master of ocean and earth and skies. They all shall sweetly obey thy will: Peace, be still; peace, be still. They all shall sweetly obey thy will: Peace, peace, be still. Master, with anguish of spirit I bow in my grief today. The depths of my sad heart are troubled. Oh, waken and save, I pray! Torrents of sin and of anguish Sweep o’er my sinking soul, And I perish! I perish! dear Master. Oh, hasten and take control! Master, the terror is over. The elements sweetly rest. Earth’s sun in the calm lake is mirrored, And heaven’s within my breast. Linger, O blessed Redeemer! Leave me alone no more, And with joy I shall make the blest harbor And rest on the blissful shore.

Why should I feel discouraged, Why should the shadows come, Why should my heart be lonely, And long for heav’n and home; When Jesus is my portion? My constant Friend is he; His eye is on the sparrow, And I know he watches me; His eye is on the sparrow, And I know he watches me. “Let not your heart be troubled,” His tender word I hear, And resting on his goodness, I lose my doubts and fears; Though by the path he leadeth, But one step I may see; His eye is on the sparrow, And I know he watches me; His eye is on the sparrow, And I know he watches me. Refrain: I sing because I’m happy, I sing because I’m free; For his eye is on the sparrow, And I know he watches me. Whenever I am tempted, Whenever clouds arise; When songs give place to sighing, When hope within me dies, I draw the closer to him, From care he sets me free; His eye is on the sparrow, And I know he watches me; His eye is on the sparrow, And I know he watches me.

My song is love unknown, my Savior’s love to me Love to the loveless shown, that they might lovely be Oh who am I that for my sake My Lord should take frail flesh and die? He came from His blest throne salvation to bestow But men made strange, and none the longed for Christ would know But oh my Friend, my Friend indeed Who at my need His life did spend Sometimes they strew His way, and His sweet praises sing Resounding all the day, hosannas to their King Then “Crucify!” is all their breath And for His death they thirst and cry Here might I stay and sing; no story so divine Never was love, dear King! never was grief like Thine This is my Friend, in whose sweet praise I all my days could gladly spend

All praise to Thee, my God, this night, For all the blessings of the light! Keep me, O keep me, King of kings, Beneath Thine own almighty wings. Forgive me, Lord, for Thy dear Son, The ill that I this day have done, That with the world, myself, and Thee, I, ere I sleep, at peace may be. O may my soul on Thee repose, And with sweet sleep mine eyelids close, Sleep that may me more vigorous make To serve my God when I awake All praise to Thee, my God, this night, For all the blessings of the light! Keep me, O keep me, King of kings, Beneath Thine own almighty wings.
8.
When I fear my faith will fail, Christ will hold me fast; When the tempter would prevail, He can hold me fast! Refrain: He will hold me fast, He will hold me fast; For my Savior loves me so, He will hold me fast. I could never keep my hold, He must hold me fast; For my love is often cold, He must hold me fast. I am precious in His sight, He will hold me fast; Those He saves are His delight, He will hold me fast. He'll not let my soul be lost, Christ will hold me fast; Bought by Him at such a cost, He will hold me fast.

about

This album comprises of richly worded, beautiful hymns that we may not hear so often these days. A couple of them were new to me, but as I listened to them and heard the beautiful lyrics, I knew I had to include them in this album. Although written hundreds of years ago, for a different generation and for different situations these hymns carry more meaning and more practical application than we sometimes realise.

We're so grateful to the musicians listed below - their enthusiasm for the project drove us forward, and their attention to details, their prompt deliveries made them a joy to work with! In spite of issues like travelling for work, being in a different city, and spending hours to find 'just the right' feel, they gave their best and made the songs sound incredible! The mixing and mastering was also superbly carried out by Sean.
